Steven Keevil is a graduate of the Bournemouth Media School with a BA Hons in Television and Film.
It would be fair to say very few undergraduates – in a School where over two thousand were studying – made an impression on me. Steven was the exception.
Steven never took ‘No’ for an answer. He produced a soap opera for the student television service, despite being told by staff and fellow students that the project was too complicated and too expensive. In fact, after persuading our Facilities Manager to allow him access to resources and after clearing time for a cast to form and then work together, he delivered the project on time and on budget.
Steven’s academic achievements were solid. But it was his ability to make bricks out of straw in the extra-curricular space that marked him out as someone who will undoubtedly find a successful niche within the audio-visual industries. He has an entrepreneurial streak that will serve him well, and he makes and keeps friends easily.
He was a credit to the Media School.

Whilst there he was the Station Manager of the Student’s Union Television Station, in an extra curricular capacity.
For many years now I have been an active supporter of Nerve TV and have hoped that it would become an integral part of our media culture here at the Bournemouth University.
Steven Keevil has been the only student here who has had the drive and commitment to push forward a raft of programmes and successfully take NerveTV to being an award winning institution. I have worked with him and his production team on some of his “live” programmes and have remarked on his ability to control a gallery of enthusiastic students. What is also remarkable is that Steven possesses the appropriate skills and courage to indicate, in no uncertain way, that things are not as he desires. It’s all very well being chummy with your team but you need to lead at times and to make difficult decisions in order to get thing done.

Steven has lectured on entering the media industry after graduation, on his creating a Limited Company, and working as a Multi Media Producer; producing Promotional and Short Films.
Steven has a valuable range of skills and attributes. Although still in his twenties; he quickly identifies problems, but always proposes a range of creative solutions; he is confident and at ease with senior staff, whilst being patient with and supportive of students; and he is a very proactive person, and his entrepreneneurial spirit enthuses those around him.

Steven has been of real support to the Media department in the form of guest lectures and advice in current working practices within the industry.
Most recently, Steven, in the form of ‘OnMeJack productions’ has worked successfully with students providing a professional brief whereby students would produce a short film for his production company.
This involved him working as client whilst providing guidance and support regarding deadlines, product, creative and aesthetic restrictions.
